Chrome Tips & Tricks
31 Dec

Just a few days ago, Google announced the launch of the operating system source code Chrome. Within 24 hours the network was full of disk images to run the new operating system in virtual machines like VMWare and VirtualBox.
I even managed to set up my own Google Chrome Download OS in the form of a full VirtualBox machine. I am pleased to announce that I have taken a step further, and now you can easily test on your own computer from a USB flash drive.
Before You Get Started
Before you decide to download Chrome operating system, there are probably some things I must tell you about it. It is in the early stages of development, so there is still a lot that does not work. In fact, it may not work for you at all.
It should also be aware that this OS is too simple by design, because it is designed for use in computers netbook. By definition, a notebook is a small, cheap laptop for very casual use such as web browsing and simple office tasks. When you launch Chrome operating system, almost everything we get is a web browser. Do not be surprised if you go through all this and say: “I did all that work just log on to a freakin ‘browser?”
Requirements
First, you will of course need a USB drive you can use to prove it. The disk image is 2988442112 bytes, so you probably need a 4GB thumb drive to use it. If you have a file on your USB drive you need, be sure to backup in a safe place as this wipe all data from your USB drive. Consider yourself warned.
You will also need a computer that allows booting from a USB disk. You will have to instruct the computer BIOS to boot from the USB drive instead of the hard drive as usual. When starting the computer, you must provide information on how to bring up a boot menu. On some machines is the F8 key and the F12 key or some other key.
If everything moves too fast, some computers will allow you to stop the boot sequence by pressing the Pause button. That will give you all the time you need to read all that on the screen to see if you can find out what the boot menu key is (if there is one). If you do not see anything about a boot menu, you could also try editing the BIOS settings to boot from the USB drive. You can consult your computer (or motherboard), manual on how to do this.
You will also need some luck. Chromium OS may or may not work in the computer hardware. I did successfully run it on two computers homemade Frankenstein (with ASUS motherboards), but not correctly recognize the network adapter in my Dell laptop. All this work can be for nothing if it ends OS that chromium does not like the network adapter. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that we also need a computer with a network adapter.
Finally, you’ll need to download the necessary files to put chrome OS (which is what is called the open source version of Google Chrome OS) on your USB drive. I packed everything together in a torrent for you:
You need a BitTorrent client like ?Torrent good to download. If you’re new to BitTorrent, be sure to visit our Big Book of BitTorrent. You will learn more than you want to know.
The torrent has a zip file that contains the disk image and a Windows tool to put the image on a USB drive. The program used to create the disk bootable USB Chrome OS called Windows Image Writer. It is an ingenious little tool to write disk images, is free and is open source.
No need to download separately, because I have included in the torrent. I just wanted to talk about the good people who have developed the wide application and send them some link love.
Installing the operating system chrome to your USB Drive
Chrome_os_usb.zip Unzip and launch Win32DiskImager.exe. If you need a program to unzip the file, you can download WinZip. If you get the following warning when you start Image Writer, do not worry. You are looking for a disk that is not there.
Once you have implemented Image Writer click the folder icon and select the file chrome_os.img (must be located in the same place where you extracted the zip file and launched Win32DiskImager.exe).

Connect your USB drive to your PC. If you have autorun enabled, you might want to wait a few seconds for the computer to do its thing. Just close any window may pop up. Then click the Device pulldown menu and select the drive letter that corresponds to your USB drive. Then click Record and the program will write the disk image on the USB drive.
Boot Up Chromium OS
You are now ready to boot OS chrome! You may leave the USB drive into your computer and reboot. When the computer starts, press the Start menu on your keyboard. Select your USB drive from the menu. In about 10 seconds or less, you should see the logon screen OS chrome.

Login with Cronos and password. This closes the session as a local user. Once you enter, you should see what that looks almost like the Google Chrome browser. If you click in the field of chromium in the upper left corner, you should see a page of Google Accounts login that tells you to log in Welcome. Sign in with your Google Account.

If you see this page and you get a browser page saying it could not find the requested page, then unfortunately luck was not on their side. This means that chromium OS does not like the network adapter. However, you can still try it in a virtual machine if desired. If you were able to successfully log in, you should see the application page.

As you can see, everything is in the cloud. All applications shown in page app open different websites, and everything you do takes place in the browser. In my experience, although he did start relatively quickly, the browser tends to be slow and a bit nervous. Although the calculator and notepad to launch correctly on Windows Popover little, applications do not work and nothing loads in the windows at all.
To Do List application is not working well, and you get an access account Google.com page. Note, this is not the same login to Google Accounts so that you can not log in with your Google Account. Google.com The login page is only for Google employees. The Contacts application shows a Google Talk gadget not seem to work.
As I said before, many things not working well. See also right at the top of the website of a message that says the user interface development. The designs are subject to change.
All other applications are simply links to web pages. One thing I found most amusing is that when you click the icon for Hotmail, which takes you to Gmail. However, Yahoo! Mail Icon in fact, lead to the Yahoo! Home mail session. I guess he likes to Google Yahoo! better than they do Microsoft.
So what OS do you think of Chrome? Do you think that is the operating system of the future netbook?
