The image will appear inline in the e-mail as opposed to an attachment, and you don’t need to enter any tags or anything else to make it work. The best part is that you don’t have to enable any setting. The only thing is that it only works with Google Chrome browser.

Google Chrome covered up security and build issues in their latest released Google Chrome 4.1.249.1064 version. Google Chrome have addressed issues where it was not using the correct path for the Java Version 6, update 20 plug-ins, as well as the fact that its JavaScript benchmarks had plummeted in the most recent stable channel version.

For security issues, they’re patching three vulnerabilities all of which are ranked “High” in importance, which include memory corruption in HTML 5 and font handling.

According to reports, the new problems relate to a bug in the GURL library which allows attackers to circumvent the same origin policy. It’s also possible to provoke a memory error using prepared fonts, or when processing HTML5 media data. The vulnerabilities might allow an exploit to inject and execute code.
Updates should be pushed to the stable channel automatically, but you can always go to the tools menu to check for the latest version.

The year 2009, with reason, may be termed the year of netbooks. Almost all companies in the world of technology has launched its own brand in the markets Netbook computer world. The year 2010, however, began in a completely different pace.
The leave year, 27 of the first month, Apple celebrated the new year with its mysterious product, iPad. This unique product, Apple Tablet was already talk of the town in recent months.
The latest of these rumors in the air, about to Google Tablet that Google could be developing in response to its rival product, the Apple iPad. The rumor was further strengthened when an engineer of the online search company released a video showing a demo of Chrome operating system running on a Tablet PC. Google, without much fuss, quietly published some photos of your device. The short video, but intelligent Chrome OS concept of freedom, interesting example browser windows that are being treated as objects and can be easily manipulated and easily on the screen to best use, depending on where you are at. It shows how the two sides of a single screen, big can be used simultaneously to perform computing tasks such as writing emails and web searches.

In the demo video, one can clearly see that the multi-task will undoubtedly exists in the Schedule of Google. This single factor alone can be one of the major selling point for a tablet against rival Google as iPad in the world market for Tablet PC, and will be able to perform more than one task or process simultaneously. Here you can see for yourself why Google Chrome based Tablet OS may seem.
Each week we will share interesting articles we have collected – news, software updates, extensions, themes – anything. If you saw something cool, Chrome cover related think we should send us a tip! Without further ado, in Volume 1 of Chrome Corner!

Hey, Big Daddy! Skin Chrome with two awesome Bioshock 2 Themes!

Extensions Gallery hits the 1K mark!
Customizers Browser: Rejoice! While it has been opened recently, the developers are obviously much more enthusiastic about creating extensions to Google Chrome, now that the official has arrived. Sebastian went through the available options and chose 10 that they have and more are arriving every day.

While Chrome gallery will not be updated in the repository of add-ons in the short term, is a sign of good things to come.

Goo.gl link shortening extensions hit the gallery
When Google recently announced that they were launching a service to address short, it was logical that developers do not waste time in creating forms for users to use it. I saw three extensions chromium in the Gallery, and commentators in the post contributed a bookmarklet that lets shorten Goo.gl links from any browser.

Google Chrome is now the third most popular browser
Well, that did not take long. From a new release in December 2008 for the number three slot in the graphical browser, behind only Internet Explorer and Firefox. With the version 4 beta of Google Chrome for Mac and Linux Chrome Safari jumped this month. Involvement of 4.4% chromium, was up almost half a point since November 2009.

Chromium and iron base SRWare ChromePlus keep puffing
The privacy of browser mentality iron released a beta version based on chromium 4 recently, and ChromePlus updated to version 1.3.3. Both songs are intended to maintain communication with Google at a minimum (by doing things like removing the unique identifier, etc.), and adds mouse gestures built ChromePlus, IETab and integration with various download managers.

Chrome announcement powered by Rube Goldberg device
Have you seen one? He was one of last week most talked about videos on Twitter, and pretty damn slick. Check it out below and share your thoughts in the comments!

Turn Chrome into a Site-Specific Browser with Application Shortcuts

If webapps like Gmail have replaced desktop applications like an old email client of the school for you, you like Chrome’s ability to act as a site-specific browser (SSB) with Application Shortcuts. Chrome minimal interface makes it a great candidate to get the heck out of how your webapps’, and just act as a window to it.

To put a chrome application shortcut to Gmail, Google Reader, Twitter, Facebook, or any other webapp you want to keep open in a separate window, open the site in chrome. From the menu page, select “Create application shortcuts.” From there decide to put the shortcut on the desktop, Quick Launch bar and / or Start menu. You can create application shortcuts you want to all your favorite web applications or websites. When you open your webapp from the shortcut icon of the application, you will not see the Chrome address bar, or here, or their favorite bar. Any links you click within the application window will open in a separate window in a full-on case of Chrome.

Assign Keywords to Your Search Engines

One of the most touted features Chrome is how to search the web by just typing in your address bar (aka, the “Omnibox”). To search specific sites, can even the names of certain domain (like “youtube.com”) and then press Tab to search for that particular site. However, power users want to set up custom searches to spend as few keystrokes as possible. Like the ability to bookmark keywords in Firefox, you can assign a keyword to a bookmark in Chrome search engine that uses variable% s to pass parameters to the URL.

To do this, click the Chrome address bar and choose “Edit search engines”. There, you can add, edit or delete searches and assign keywords in the keyword field.

Using this technique can, for example, update Twitter with a keyword and search through Google Lifehacker.com. (Set the URL to http://google.com/search?q=site:lifehacker.com+% s, and the keyword to the LH. So, to find files from Lifehacker on Chrome, LH type your search here “in the address bar.)

Customize the “New Tab” Page

Another feature of Chrome headlining spot is their “new tab” page, which displays a grid of thumbnails frequently visited the website that will help get where you’re most likely to go to create a new tab. That list is more customizable than ever, with options to rearrange thumbnails (just drag and drop) and PIN thumbnails at specific locations in the network (hover over the thumbnail and press the tack to do so) . If you do not need to Eye Candy lot can change in a list view, click the view buttons on the top right.

Get to Know New Chrome Startup Switches

Last year we tried Chrome startup switches that can do several things like using multiple user profiles, always start Chrome in a maximized window, and disable certain features such as Flash or JavaScript. Today there are three more starting switches noteworthy. The – marker menu switch button adds a bookmark to the toolbar in Chrome. The-Google Chrome incognito starts in private, the incognito mode. Finally, fans will want to try Greasemonkey – enable-user-switch script to see if your favorite scripts work in chrome. (A few steps are still needed, here’s how you Greasemonkey user scripts.)

Choose Your Chrome Theme

As if the announcement of the websites were not high enough, the web browser themes can add even more visual distractions to your browsing experience. However, since Chrome’s, well, chrome is so minimal, its themes are less annoying than other browsers. I prefer Google’s more moderate on issues of home, but there are more vibrant artist also. To activate a theme, from the Key menu, select personal options, click on “Get Themes.” Choose the theme you like from the gallery of items and click “Apply Theme” beneath it.

Master Mouse and Keyboard Shortcuts for Managing Tabs

Each user has a power of a few essential keyboard shortcuts in your arsenal, and Chrome offers some mouse and keyboard combinations for the management of tabs, too. Like Firefox, the mouse can click the button to open any link in a background tab (or Ctrl + click the same result). Shift + click opens a link in a new window mean + Shift + click (or Shift + Ctrl + click) opens a link in a new tab and switches to it, and Alt-click save the contents of a link to your computer.

Switch to the Dev Channel Release for Extensions (and More)

Google Chrome Brave devotees want to take advantage of open development, and developers subscribe to the channel of the first releases of chromium to get a preview of the new features. Using the tool Chrome Channel Changer can change the stable to non-security-in-beta to developers or to build stability. The risk of making mistakes in managing unexpected worthwhile for the characteristics of the supply of early builds. In the current build of Development 4.0.222.12, you can sync your bookmarks, extensions test and PIN here. (Also, Mac and Linux Chrome may eventually prove through the channel of developers, as a stable version is not available yet.)

(Dev Build Only) Synchronize Your Bookmarks

Chromium is used in the home and office, and you want your bookmarks synchronized in both locations, in the dev build of Chrome, the menu key, select “Synchronize my bookmarks” to save your favorite Chrome in your Google account . (You will be logged in to start the synchronization.) If you’re already using Xmarks extension for Firefox or IE, you can use this in the dev build of Chromium, which includes the support base with an alpha extension to add a few ons ready for testing.
(Dev Build Only) Install Extensions

Support for the extension of Chrome is still young, but several alpha / beta extensions to check out the goodness of Firefox and Chrome extension. Here are some of our favorite stretches of Chrome.

* Gmail Checker: Although it seems to work for Google Apps accounts (anyone? Prove me wrong?), The spell Gmail puts the number of unread messages in your Inbox at the bottom bar of Chrome.
* Xmarks: Our favorite bookmark synchronizing extension for Firefox and IE is available for Chrome dev build testers as an alpha version. Xmarks You must sign in and sign up for alpha testing for the extension of Chrome.
* And Adblock + AdSweep: Scrub annoying ads flashing your favorite websites.
* Session Saver: As previously covered, this extension allows for multiple file saving and reloading.
* WOT: ratings site integrates Web reputation to trust in Google Chrome.
* LastPass: add auto-completion deeper password management for Chrome.

To view and manage extensions you have installed in Google Chrome, the menu key, select the extensions to open the Extension Manager, where you can reload, disable and uninstall extensions.

(Dev Build Only) Shrink and Affix Tabs with “Pin Tab” Option

Finally, a small little tab feature that everyone seems to love is available in the dev build of Chrome: the ability to reduce a chip to only your favicon, and PIN to your tab bar. Click any tab tab and choose “Pin” on the shortcut menu to prove it.

Firefox loses where Chrome gains. Web apps do not run fast on Firefox but in Google, they are amazingly zippy. Nevertheless, there are ways you can make your Google Chrome a better browser than it already is. What do you know, you might end up sticking to Chrome and continuing to use it! Let us now see how it can be turned into a better place with a few tips and tricks.

Optimizing and managing tabs

Chrome is multi process browser, which means each tab runs as if it is a separate process. You might wonder then what the point of having tabs is all about. The reason why it was designed so was to make the web apps run faster when you are on a particular tab. If you do not use a number of tabs and are a going to surf just one site at a time, you could alter the tab settings that Chrome comes with. You could click on the ’single process’ instead of the ‘process per tab’ or ‘process per site’.

If a particular site is being non-responsive, or if a particular tab is hung, you could cancel that particular non-responsive tab instead of shutting down the browser completely. All you would need to do is use the Google Chrome’s Task Manager. Pressing shift and escape would help you access the Task Manager.

Chrome and accessing Stats

Google Chrome provides nerds and site admins with useful stats that could help one optimize the browsing experience or feel all geeky and nerdish. All one needs to do is open the Task Manager and click on ‘Stats for Nerds’ and you could learn which particular browser is using a lot of resources. If you are using just the Chrome, it is of not much use anyway.

You could also check which web page is using more resources using the Resources page. You cannot ask for more stats than this.

Managing your Screen while Using Chrome

If you feel a text box on a certain site is too large and is obstructing text that you are reading, you could just place the cursor at the button right edge and drag to increase or decrease.

Moreover, if you want two sites simultaneously, you could also choose the Chrome Split Browser plugin and view two sites at a single time. Chrome can be amazingly versatile, these tips reveal.

Other tips and tricks

You also have the option of choosing what you want to see on starting Chrome instead of the ‘Most Visited’ that is set as the default. You would need to click on Options and Basic to alter the settings.

You could also drag and drop your downloads from Chrome to any folder of your choice or the Desktop.

These and many other tips can be found here. I would say, using Chrome even if you are comfortable with other browsers would only give you a back up plan if that browser has run into some problems for some reason. Moreover, Chrome has a great interface, and one cannot deny that!

Here are some of the unique features that are only available in Google Chrome which are not available in other popular browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Apple Safari or Opera.

1 – Task Manager for Websites

Inside Google Chrome, press Shift+Escape and it will open up a ‘task manager’ with a list of all websites currently open inside Chrome.

This will give you an idea about how much physical memory is consumed by different websites and if any particular page is causing your system to crawl, you can do an “end process” to close that tab directly from Task Manager.

2 – Visual Browser History

This is a feature Chrome borrowed from Google Desktop / Google Web History. Type Ctrl+H to open your browser history and search for a term. In addition to matching pages, Google Chrome will also show you a small thumbnail image of that web pages in the history results. No need for any extensions.

3 – Super Clean Contextual Menus

I simply love this. You right click an hyperlink on a web page and you get only five relevant options to deal with that link. The number comes down to four when you right click any image in Chrome. There’s way too much clutter in Firefox menus.

4 – Search Websites from Address Bar

If you visit a website that includes site search (for instance: search.labnol.org) – Chrome will automatically recognize and add that search engine for you so the next time you can perform a search on that site via the Chrome address bar itself.

5 – See Memory used by Other Browsers

Open a new tab inside Chrome browser and type “about:memory” (without quotes) – somewhere at the top, you’ll see a list of browser processes that are currently running on your system and the amount of memory they are using.

6 – Reopen Mistakenly Closed Tabs

To re-open a closed tab in Google Chrome, just hit Ctrl+T and you’ll see an option that says “Recently closed tabs” – click the one you closed by accident.

7 – Launch Websites from Start Menu/Quick Launch Bar

Desktop shortcuts for web pages are possible with other browsers as well but Google Chrome make the whole flow very easy. Open any site and choose “Create application shortcut” from the File menu.

This will essentially create a desktop shortcut that looks something like this:

C:\Users\labnol\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe
–app=http://www.labnol.org/

Clicking the shortcut will launch that web page in a new instance of Chrome that may not contain have any more new tabs.

Google Chrome peaked when it was released with market share of 3.1%. Since then its dropped down to 1.5% and even sometime to 1.4%.

Google launched its browser in to market in September after so much talk and long wait. According to Global Marketshare Statistics Google Chrome reached its peak on September 3 with market share of 3.115%. However, it started to decline after that till October 27 it dropped down to 1.586%.

Microsoft Internet Explorer is leading the market with 55.973% followed by Mozilla Firefox 33.657% and Safari 4.932%.

However Google Chrome is still in Beta Version and of course the drop in usage statistics are only based on data from one month, so it’s too early to draw broad conclusions. It is quite possible that once Google releases a non-beta version, Chrome will receive higher adoption rates.
